2 Corinthians 1:3-4

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God."

God is named the Father of compassion and God of all comfort. The comfort He gives is not theoretical; it is received in real trouble and then becomes a resource for others. Depression can feel uniquely isolating, yet this passage roots the sufferer in a God whose very nature is to console and then equips the consoled to become a channel of the same grace.
