Psalm 126:5-6

"Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them."

Tears are not wasted; they are part of the sowing. The promise is a harvest of joy. This agricultural image gives dignity to seasons of sorrow and assures that the emotional investment of grief is not the end of the story. Joy is coming, and it will be substantial.
