John 16:33

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Trouble is guaranteed; peace is available in me. The command take heart is based on Christ's finished victory. Depression can make the world feel overwhelmingly large and one's own strength vanishingly small. This verse relocates the center of gravity: the Overcomer has already secured the final outcome.
