Matthew 5:4

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."

Jesus pronounces blessing on mourners. Grief and deep sadness are not signs of spiritual failure; they are conditions in which God's comfort is especially promised. The comfort is future-oriented yet certain. In seasons of depression, this beatitude reframes mourning as a place where the kingdom's blessing is actively at work rather than a place God has forgotten.
