Sadness Grief and Discouragement
Scripture and encouragement for sadness, grief, and discouragement.
Selected Sub-Tab
Isaiah 43:2
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze."
The language is realistic: when you pass through, not if. Deep waters and fire represent overwhelming trials, including emotional ones. The repeated promise is presence and protection from ultimate destruction. Depression may feel like drowning or consuming fire; this verse anchors the sufferer in the accompanying presence of God.
