Philippians 4:6

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

Thanksgiving is to accompany every request. Bringing needs to God while already expressing gratitude guards the heart against anxiety and entitlement. It reminds the believer that the God who hears petitions is the same God who has already given countless gifts.
