Psalm 103:1-2
"Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits."
The psalmist commands his own soul to bless the Lord and deliberately remember His benefits. Thankfulness requires intentional recollection. Forgetting God's kindnesses leads to a cold heart; actively remembering them keeps gratitude fresh and wholehearted.
