Psalm 78:4-6

"We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done... so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children."

Parents and the community are charged with passing on the stories of God's faithfulness across generations. This long view sustains parents through present difficulties: the goal is not only the current child's immediate behavior but a multi-generational chain of faith. Telling God's works becomes both instruction and hope.
