Question 19
What is the Lord's Prayer a good example of?
WEB: Matthew 6:9-13
"Pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’"
Biblical Explanation: Jesus gave this prayer not as a checklist for mindless repetition, but as a blueprint for balanced prayer. It teaches us to prioritize God's glory, surrender to His ultimate will, ask for our daily physical provisions, seek spiritual protection, and practice ongoing confession and forgiveness.
THe Lord's Prayer is a good example of God telling us how to pray when we are uncertain of what to say or how we can pray. It starts with God-centered praise and priorities (addressing God as "Our Father in heaven," hallowing His name, seeking His kingdom and will) before moving to personal needs (daily provision, forgiveness, protection from temptation and evil). This models putting God's glory first while honestly bringing our concerns to Him.
